Math troll

Either a really terrible student or a graffiti troll has struck this subway ad near my apartment. What the hell is going on in this unnecessarily complicated long division problem?

Math Trolling

I spent about 2 minutes staring at it trying to figure out how they even got off on this very wrong track. So, did they just jump the step of 11 into 23, drop the remainder 1…? But then you would have to divide 11 into 16, which is not at all what’s happening. And where did the decimal come from.

GAH! Maddening. I was Oliver Stone; this math problem, my JFK.

Either Abbot & Costello math or someone took advantage of the blank space to mess with your attention. Me thinks the later.
