Apparently I am not an only child (?)

I’ve not met, nor heard of, David Cranor before today, but I saw him credited on MAKE blog with putting an Xbee radio in a CT scanner. Now, I think we’re related.

  1. We have the same fairly unusual last name.
  2. We like to take pictures.
  3. We both take a re-/deconstructionist approach to artistic creation. (check out his beautiful & technically astute NOCTURNE project.)
  4. He created a blinky drum for Imogen Heap, while I very much appreciate Imogen Heap.
  5. David enhances life through technological design and innovation. I like to make performance art which is kind of a philosophical enhancement (?)
  6. We both graduated from Texas universities (him: Baylor, me: A&M) and moved to Massachusetts for grad school (him: MIT, me: none, but the wife went to Smith)
  7. We have websites! On the web!
  8. We both are probably fully aware (despite lack of studies in the field of genetics) that similarities in uncontextual behaviors have almost no correlation to genetic relationships.

From David’s bio page:

My interests include hardware hacking, urban exploration, electronics, machining, pictures of both the still and moving varieties, good design, two-stroke engine tuning, music, winter camping, human/technology interaction, and pineapple upside-down cake.

Especially pineapple upside-down cake.

Yes. Related. Case closed.
